چکیده

Towards the end of the 20 century, a paradigm shift took place in many scientific labs. Scientists embarked on a new form of scientific inquiry seeking to understand the behavior of complex adaptive systems that increasingly defied traditional reductive analysis. By combining experimental methodology with computer-based simulation tools, scientists gain greater understanding of the behavior of systems such as forest ecologies, global economies, climate modeling, and beach erosion. This improved understanding is already being used to influence policy in critical areas that will affect our nation’s future, and the world’s.

A Mathematical Modeling for Plastic Analysis of Planar Frames by Linear Programming and Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, a mathematical modeling is developed for plastic analysis of planar frames. To this end, the researcher tried to design an optimization model in linear format in order to solve large scale samples. The computational result of CPU time requirement is shown for different samples to prove efficiency of this method for large scale models. The fundamental concept of this model is ob...

End User Programming in an Industrial Research & Development Group

This paper presents partial results from a case study of a full application of end user programming in an industrial product Research & Development (R&D) organization. Scientists and engineers developing large industrial machines built all application software, with programmers (including the author) in a support role. In interviews, the project team and its managers described a sophisticated a...

Integrating Oceanographic Models with Gis - Roms and Beyond

1. INTRODUCTION Models provide a way to understand and predict the behavior of natural systems. Ocean-atmosphere models such as the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) are intended to provide a multipurpose , multidisciplinary oceanic modeling tool. Fisheries models provide ways to study simplified versions of complex ecosystems. While models provide greater understanding, the results can be ...

Application of Genetic Programming to Modeling and Prediction of Activity Coefficient Ratio of Electrolytes in Aqueous Electrolyte Solution Containing Amino Acids

Genetic programming (GP) is one of the computer algorithms in the family of evolutionary-computational methods, which have been shown to provide reliable solutions to complex optimization problems. The genetic programming under discussion in this work relies on tree-like building blocks, and thus supports process modeling with varying structure. In this paper the systems containing amino ac...
